Dear BJ and Nate-
Soon there will be a wedding date marked on my calendar. I’m sure it will be filled with laughter, tears (of joy) and many, many smiles. A milestone-the “official” start of your life together.
I don’t know the divorce rate for gay marriages, but we’ve all been touched by the huge amount of failed marriages between males and females. I’m encouraged and optimistic about your future. Please, don’t prove me wrong.
I believe there is credibility in the old saying, “A relationship is like a garden. Tended and nurtured, it will flourish. Left alone, it will wither and die.” Please, fight to keep that garden alive. Don’t let the outside influences of life destroy the bond between you.
Being a gay couple, you will face obstacles most of us have never imagined. May those challenges be conquered, when the two of you combine strength, courage and love.
If the future involves starting a family, those children will truly be blessed. Biologically, they might not be of your flesh and blood, but the love showered upon them will form closer links than genetics ever could.
Prove the narrow minded, single focused people out there wrong…Live a long, happy life together. Grow old together. Play with your grandchildren together. Share a room in a retirement home together. Stay in love together.
I’ll be there, every step of the way!
Holly
